Arnold Kramer

Arnold Kramer (born May 17, 1863 in Wolfenbüttel , † May 9, 1918 in Braunschweig ) was a German sculptor and medalist .

Life

The son of a Wolfenbüttel leather manufacturer attended high school in his hometown before studying drawing and modeling with the painter Adolf Nickol (1824–1905) and the ore caster Georg Ferdinand Howaldt at the TH Braunschweig from 1882 . He continued his education from 1883 to 1888 at the Dresden Art Academy . He then worked under Echtermeier on the Abbot monument in Braunschweig and returned to Dresden in 1889 , where he founded his own studio. In 1908 he moved to Langebrück near Dresden and returned to Braunschweig in 1913. Kramer was awarded the title of professor in 1915. He died in Braunschweig in 1918.

Kramer created portrait busts, relief images, fountains, grave monuments, small sculptures as well as coins and medals for private, state and church clients. He designed his works mainly in marble, stone and bronze. The Braunschweig Municipal Museum is showing a large number of Kramer's works .
