Georg Kruse

Georg Kruse (born October 13, 1830 in Neustrelitz , † December 19, 1908 in Berlin ) was a German actor and writer.

Life

Kruse was the son of a castellan . At the age of 17 he volunteered for the Guard Uhlans in Potsdam in 1847 . He was involved in the street battles in Berlin the following year. Then he got a job as a cook at Gerhart Hauptmann . In 1852 he resigned and went to the theater. In 1856 he became director of an acting company with which he played in Lauban (now Lubań), Zittau , Liegnitz (now Legnica ) and Görlitz , among others .

In 1869 he was a co-founder of the Thalia Theater in Breslau (Wrocław). In 1872 he took over the management of the Herminia Theater in Dresden . For a short time in 1873/74 he headed theaters in Essen and Krefeld . Between 1878 and 1880 he was employed at the court theater in Sondershausen , in 1881 at the city theater in Aachen and in 1882 at the national theater in Berlin .

From 1882 he directed the city theaters in Wismar and Rostock and the summer theater in Magdeburg .

During this time he published a number of stage works, some of his own and some arrangements by other authors. At times Kruse used the pseudonyms F. Silesius and G. Krüsemann for his publications .

The conductor Georg Richard Kruse is his son.

Georg Kruse died at the age of 78 on December 19, 1908 in Berlin.
