Georg Mattes
Georg Mattes (born October 29, 1874 in Nuremberg , † September 4, 1942 in Munich ) was a German sculptor .
The sculptor Georg Mattes, born in Nuremberg in 1874, has left his mark on many Munich churches , including the Heilig-Geist-Kirche on Viktualienmarkt , the Protestant Church of the Assumption in Pasing (baptismal font, Apostles Peter and Paul) and at the Ludwig Church in Schwabing . Other works by him can be found in schools, hospitals, museums and, last but not least, in the Obermenzinger Friedhof.
Mattes was a professor of sculpture at the Munich Art Academy .
