Ascension Church (Pasing)
The Assumption Church is a Lutheran church in Munich district Pasing . It is located a few hundred meters northwest of the Pasing train station at Marschnerstrasse 2 .
history
The church building was built in 1903/1904 according to the plans of the Munich architect Carl Hocheder . It was the prelude to the urban development at that time emerging residential district Villenkolonie New Pasing II , known today as the urban ensemble under monument stands.
The Church of the Assumption and its furnishings, as well as the adjacent rectory and numerous other buildings on Marschnerstrasse, are listed as historical monuments. It has been recorded under the file number D-1-62-000-4312 in the list of monuments of the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments for the City of Munich.
Building description
The Assumption Church has according to the description in the monument list a ton hall with side galleries and hipped roof , a tower with bells roof, a Baroque-plaster facade with Ädikulafront , a gabled portal and various annexes.
Furnishing
The altarpiece , an oil painting by an unknown German artist from the 17th century, is on permanent loan from the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen . It does not represent the ascension of Christ , as the name of the church would suggest , but his resurrection .
In the choir are on either side of the altarpiece in wall niches two life-sized stone sculptures of the apostle Peter (right) and Paul (left).
Organs
Steinmeyer organ
The Ascension Church received its first organ when it was built in 1904. This instrument, Opus 820 from Steinmeyer with 14 registers divided into two manuals and pedal , has meanwhile been given to the Advent Church in the Munich district of Aubing and has been changed.
Main organ
In the 1980s, the Bonn company Johannes Klais Orgelbau was commissioned to build two new organs. The main organ , built by Hans Gerd Klais in 1982 as Opus 1604, is located on the eastern gallery above the entrance area. The abrasive loading -instrument with mechanical play and electrical key action has 23 registers that are distributed on two manuals and pedals.

Choir organ
The smaller choir organ (Opus 1632 by Klais Orgelbau), also built by Hans Gerd Klais, is located on the left side of the choir arch. The slider chest instrument with mechanical playing and stop action has a manual with four stops.

Church music
Half a cantor position was set up at the Ascension Church , which has been occupied by the soprano and church musician Yoko Seidel since 2016 . In the parish there is a choir , a brass ensemble and a youth choir . Several times a year there are cantata services and other church music events, and on special seasonal or church occasions external concert organists such as Edgar Krapp perform .
Parish
The three community centers Bartimäus (1964), Emmaus (1970) and Genezareth (1986) as well as a kindergarten belong to the community in the Pasing district .
The work of the community and the maintenance of the church is supported by the Pasing Church of the Assumption .
