Georg Rau (born June 3, 1892 in Heidenheim an der Brenz , † January 1, 1964 in Schleswig ) was a German politician ( NSDAP ) and SA leader .

Live and act

After attending elementary school, Rau learned the iron turning trade at Voith in Heidenheim. In addition, he attended vocational school. From October 1, 1912 to June 30, 1913 he was a member of the 2nd Sea Battalion in Wilhelmshaven , and then to the Scutari Detachment in Scutari until the outbreak of the First World War . After the outbreak of war, he was initially deployed with the Skutari Detachment in Austria and Serbia until September 1914, and then returned to the 2nd Sea Battalion in Wilhelmshaven from September 6th to 30th. In October 1914 he became the 8th company in the 3rd Marine Infantry Regiment, with whom he fought on the Western Front (Flanders, Somme, Albert) until 1918. During this time he was wounded four times.

In 1919, Rau first joined the Haas volunteer department in Württemberg, for which he later took on tasks in the investigation service. He then joined the Iron Division of the 3rd Courland Infantry Regiment (Detachement Poensgen). After his return from Courland, he set out with the 3rd Wuerttemberg machine gun company division of the 3rd Marine Infantry Regiment to participate in the Kapp Putsch in Berlin. On June 30, 1920 he finally came to the Lockstedt camp as a settler with the 3rd Courland Infantry Regiment .

Rau became a member of the Stahlhelm in 1923 . In 1925 Rau joined the NSDAP and in 1926 the Sturmabteilung (SA). In the SA he headed the SA Standard 21 from 1929, from 1932 the SA Standard 212 and from 1933 the SA Brigade 15. In the SA, Rau reached the rank of SA Brigade Leader on February 1, 1934. In 1934 he was also a councilor in Itzehoe.

From March 1936 until the end of Nazi rule in spring 1945, Rau was a member of the National Socialist Reichstag for constituency 13 (Schleswig-Holstein) .

Rau was appointed General Air Protection Leader in 1943 and headed Group I of the Reich Air Protection Association in East Prussia .
