Georg Steinbeck (life dates unknown) was a German football player .

Career

Steinbeck belonged to VfB Leipzig , for which he played point games as a midfielder in the championships organized by the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs from 1902 to 1907 in the district of North West Saxony , the regional highest division.

While he was a member of the club, he and the team won the Northwest Saxon and Central German championships four times and was also used in four final rounds of the German championship. On May 10, 1903, he made his debut in a 3-1 quarter-final win at BTuFC Britannia 1892 . After he had also contested the semi-final against the Altona football club of 1893 , which he won 6-3 in Leipzig on May 17th , he and his team reached the final. The championship final held on May 31, 1903 on the parade pasture in Altona , the very first in German club football, he won with his club; the DFC Prague was defeated with the result of 7-2.

On April 24, 1904, he was only used in the 1-0 quarter-final victory over Magdeburg FC Viktoria 1896 . However, the final against BTuFC Britannia 1892 , scheduled for May 29, 1904 in Kassel , did not take place. The Karlsruher FV had lodged a protest against the rating of this championship at the DFB. The DFB had not complied with the schedule of the final round matches in a neutral location; as a result, the final was canceled in the morning and the championship final was annulled.

In 1906 he played again three finals for the German championship. The quarter-finals won 9-1 against FC Norden-Nordwest Berlin on April 22nd, the semi-final won 3-2 against the Berlin football club Hertha 1892 on May 6th, in which he scored a goal, and on May 27th. May finals held in Nuremberg. Thanks to his teammate Heinrich Riso , who scored the 2-1 winner in the 85th minute against 1. FC Pforzheim , he became German champions for the first time.

He crowned his last final round game on May 12, 1907 in the 2: 3 semi-final defeat against the eventual German champions Freiburg FC with a goal, the connection goal to 1: 2 in the 90th minute.
