Georg Wickert
Georg Josef Wickert (born October 19, 1886 in Gleiwitz , † February 12, 1940 in Lübeck ) was a German landscape painter.
Life
Georg Wickert was the son of a master tailor from Gleiwitz in Upper Silesia . After study trips through South America and Italy , he worked in Lübeck. He found his motifs mainly on the water, for example on the Wakenitz , the Trave or the Baltic Sea . in August 1929 Westermann's monthly magazine showed his yachts in the morning light , and in 1930 a critic found that his pictures spoke "the whole magic of water and land, trees and wide-span skies".
Since 1916 he was married to Agnes Lucie Karoline, b. Brey (1889-). Wickert last lived at Friedrich-Wilhelm-Strasse (now Stresemannstrasse) 21 in Lübeck-St. Jurgen . He was buried in the Burgtorfriedhof .
