Georg Wildmann

Georg Wildmann (born May 29, 1929 in Bački Gračac , German  Filipowa , Batschka , Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes ) is an Austrian university professor , association official and author of books on Danube Swabian history .

Life

From 1940 to 1944 Wildmann attended the German grammar school in Vrbas (German Neu-Werbass ). In November 1944 he was interned as a "Volksdeutscher" by a general resolution of the Anti-Fascist Council for the National Liberation of Yugoslavia as a forced laborer, from where he managed to escape to Austria in May 1946. He graduated from secondary school in Linz , where he studied philosophy and theology. At the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, he continued his studies and reached 1953 Licentiate of Philosophy. In 1959 he received his doctorate. theol .; He wrote his dissertation on the philosophical-theological foundation of solidarism , the branch of Catholic social theory that dominated between 1900 and 1960. After 1959 he worked mainly as a religion and philosophy teacher (senior teacher) at secondary schools. From 1971 to 1974 he taught as a full professor of philosophy at the Catholic Private University in Linz . He also gave lectures on adult education, including in Puchberg near Wels .

Wildmann was an employee of the "Donauschwäbischen Landsmannschaft". From 1966 he worked as editor of the "Filipowaer Heimatbriefe". From 1975 onwards he dealt intensively with the history and culture of the Danube Swabians and was in demand as a speaker at lectures on this topic. From 1989 to 2009 he was a member of the board of the “Donauschwäbischen Kulturstiftung” in Munich, employee in the cultural studies working group of the “Association of the People's German Landsmannschaften in Austria” (VLÖ) and then at the Felix Ermacora Institute . Since 1999 he has been the deputy chairman of the "Association of Danube Swabians in Upper Austria". Between 1995 and 2008 he worked there with the cultural advisor Oskar Feldtänzer .

Wildmann is married to Erika, geb. Wendtner (born in Český Dub (German Böhmisch Aicha ), Czechoslovakia ). Your children are Markus and Elisabeth.
