George Balint

George Balint (born February 11, 1961 in Târgovişte ) is a Romanian composer , pianist and conductor .

From 1976 to 1980, Balint attended Huba Bertalan's piano class at the Ploieşti Music School . He then studied composition with Ștefan Niculescu , orchestration with Nicolae Beloiu and Tiberiu Olah , harmony with Alexandru Paşcanu , conducting with Constantin Bugeanu and Iosif Conta and reading scores with Iosif Csire at the Ciprian Porumbescu Conservatory in Bucharest until 1986 .

This was followed by a doctoral degree in musicology with Anatol Vieru and Octavian Nemescu (1986 to 1987) and later (2000 to 2001) a master’s degree in conducting with Cristian Brâncuși . From 1990 to 1994 he was an assistant at the Bucharest Music Academy. From 1997 to 2000 he was artistic director of the Romanian National Opera . Since 2000 he has been the music editor of Radiodifuziunea Română Bucharest, since 2001 artistic advisor and conductor at the Teatrul National de Operetă "Ion Dacian".
