George Cherrie

George Kruck Cherrie (born August 22, 1865 in Knoxville , Iowa , † January 20, 1948 in Newfane , Vermont ) was an American scientist and explorer.

Live and act

In the course of his life he participated in nearly forty expeditions in South and Central America , including the famous Roosevelt-Rondon expedition in the Amazon basin .

Cherrie immortalized his experiences in his memoirs ( Dark Trails: Adventures of a Naturalist, 1930 ).

In Cyanerpes caerulea cherriei von Berlepsch & E. Hartert , 1902 is synonymous with the Purple Honeycreeper subtype ( Cyanerpes caeruleus microrhynchus ( von Berlepsch , 1884)), in Myadestes genibarbis cherriei Ridgway , 1905 is a synonym for the Bartklarino subtype ( Myadestes genibarbis montanus Cory , 1881) and in Ostinops Cherrieanus Bertoni , 1901 a synonym for the red rump cassike ( Cacicus haemorrhous ( Linnaeus , 1766)).
