George Clayton Johnson (2006)

George Clayton Johnson (born July 10, 1929 in Cheyenne , Wyoming , † December 25, 2015 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American novelist and screenwriter and occasionally appeared as a film actor .

Life

Johnson has written several short stories and novels in the SF area. Together with William F. Nolan, he was the author of the dystopia Logan's Run (1967), the template for the film Escape into the 23rd Century (1976). He was a sought-after screenwriter in the 1960s and 1970s. Among other things, he wrote the script for the first episode of the successful television series Raumschiff Enterprise , The Last of its Kind . Other notable work was done on The Twilight Zone and Kung Fu .

He also wrote the novel about Frankie and his cronies ; the film was remade in 2001 under the title Ocean's Eleven with George Clooney in the lead role.

In 1961 and 1962, Johnson appeared in supporting roles in both the TV series Underwater Adventure and the drama White Terror .
