George Harmon Coxe

George Harmon Coxe (born 1901 in Olean , Cattaraugus County , New York , † January 31, 1984 ) was an American crime writer .

Life

Coxe dropped out without a degree. He worked in factories for some time and also hired himself as a lumberjack. He started writing around 1922.

In 1929 he married Elizabeth Fowler and had two children with her. In 1941, he settled with his family in Old Lyme ( Connecticut down).

reception

Coxe wrote over 60 novels, mostly under his own name. Among the protagonists he created, the photographers Jack Casey and Kent Murdock were by far the most successful. Many of his stories, such as those about the characters Leon Morley, Max Hale or Jack Fenner, were published by Coxe in various pulp magazines ( Black Mask and the like). The photography in all its forms takes place as a defining element of almost all of his work.
