George Cristian Ogăraru (born February 3, 1980 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian football player . He played a total of 226 games in the Romanian League 1 , the Dutch Eredivisie and the Swiss Super League . In 2005 and 2006 he won the Romanian championship with Steaua Bucharest .

Since January 2016 he has been coaching the youth of Ajax Amsterdam .

Career

The right full-back started his career in 1998 at Steaua Bucharest . In the 2000/01 and 2001/02 seasons he played on loan for CSM Reșița and Oțelul Galați . The following season he played again at Steaua Bucharest. From the 2006/07 season he played for Ajax Amsterdam . He played the 2008/09 season on loan for Steaua Bucharest before returning to Ajax. In July 2010 he signed with FC Sion . With the club he won the Swiss Cup in his first year . In the 2011/12 season he was only used in the second team of the Valais, which played in the first division . He ended his active career in the summer of 2012.
