George Oppenheimer

George Oppenheimer (born February 7, 1900 in New York City , New York , † August 14, 1977 there ) was an American screenwriter and songwriter who was nominated once for the Oscar for best original story.

life and career

Oppenheimer began his career as a screenwriter in the Hollywood film industry in 1933 for the fantasy comedy Roman Scandals, directed by Frank Tuttle , with Eddie Cantor and Ruth Etting in the leading roles. He also worked as a songwriter since 1935 and wrote the lyrics for songs such as "I Feel a Song Coming On", which has been featured in numerous films.

For the film Three Men in Paradise (1938), a film adaptation of the novel Three Men in the Snow , by Erich Kästner , he contributed the script together with Harry Ruskin . At the 1943 Academy Awards , Oppenheimer was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for the 1942 feature film The War Against Mrs. Hadley by Harold S. Bucquet, starring Fay Bainter , Edward Arnold and Richard Ney .

Oppenheimer, who also wrote skits for musical revues on Broadway such as Dance Me a Song (1950), worked as a scriptwriter and songwriter in the production of 46 films and television series.
