George Wallace, Baron Wallace of Campsie ( February 13, 1915 , † December 23, 1997 ) was a British entrepreneur , banker and politician who became a member of the House of Lords in 1974 as a life peer under the Life Peerages Act 1958 . Life

Lawyer and Entrepreneur

After attending Abbotsford Primary School and Queen's Park Secondary School in Glasgow, Wallace began studying law at the University of Glasgow and then worked as a solicitor before setting up his own law firm. After completing his military service with the Royal Air Force (RAF) during World War II , he worked as a lawyer for a few years.

Shortly thereafter, in 1950, he founded Wallace Cameron and Company , a company that made industrial disinfectants and first aid bandages, one of which was considered a technological breakthrough because it harnessed the action of alginic acid to heal wounds.
