The Georgenberg is a 594 m high mountain cone in the municipality of Micheldorf in Upper Austria . Every second year a Georgi ride leads to the Gothic , later Baroque-style Georgi Church on the hilltop .
history
It was first mentioned as St. Jörgerberg in 1334. However, it is likely that the mountain was inhabited as early as the second millennium BC. At the site of the current church there was a sanctuary in Celtic times, which was replaced by an early Christian church in Roman times . A wooden nave from Carolingian times built next to their choir gave way to a stone building in the 12th century. At the time of the Reformation , the church was a Protestant church under the rule of Pernstein ( Altpernstein Castle ). The building burned down several times by lightning strikes, but was rebuilt each time. In the late 18th century it was supposed to be canceled, but two Micheldorfer scythe works bought it in 1788 for 120 guilders . Between 1975 and 1981, the parish and parish restored the church together. Today it is still owned by the Micheldorf community as a baptismal and wedding church.

Finds
Coins of the Celtic Boier as well as pieces from the Roman period, the Middle Ages and the (early) modern times were found. The spread is almost 1800 years. Numerous children's graves were discovered in Felström and a few adult graves. However, the condition was poor. There are a few grave goods, such as a bronze ring or a polyhedron bead made of blue glass.
