Chronicle and description
A church was first mentioned around 1273. This was probably still a wooden church, as there are no structural remains. Construction of the current church building began around 1300. The George Church from the beginning of the 14th century was a three-aisled basilica with a four-bay nave , which is covered by a ribbed vault.
The building is made of bricks. The square west tower is from 1414. The fire that raged in 1699 destroyed the interior and the bell tower. The heat even melted the bells. The renovation of the building in neo-Gothic style did not take place until the middle of the 19th century. The new consecration took place at Easter 1867.
Interior
Altar , pulpit and double gallery were created in the neo-Gothic style. The altar is also neo-Gothic, adorned with a simple wooden cross. The body was gold-plated in the 1960s.
The organ was built in 1856 by Friedrich Hermann Lütkemüller from Wittstock with 22 registers. In 1956 the organ was redesigned and expanded by the organ builder Barnim II Grüneberg (Greifswald). Today it has 26 registers, divided between two manuals and a pedal.
