Georges Abi-Saber

Georges Abi-Saber OLM (born May 12, 1923 in Wadi Sette ; † August 26, 2015 ) was a Lebanese clergyman and bishop of Saint-Maron de Montréal .

Life

Georges Abi-Saber joined the order of the Baladiten and was ordained a priest on July 16, 1952 .

Paul VI appointed him on August 4, 1977 Bishop of Latakia . The Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and the whole Orient Anton Peter Khoraiche donated him episcopal ordination on November 29 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Joseph Salamé , Archbishop of Aleppo , and Ibrahim Hélou , Bishop of Sidon .

On 2 May 1986 it appointed Pope John Paul II. To auxiliary bishop in Antioch and titular bishop of Aradus . On November 23, 1990, he was named Bishop of Saint-Maron de Montréal.

On February 7, 1996, Pope John Paul II granted his resignation for health reasons.
