Ibrahim Hélou

Ibrahim Hélou (born March 27, 1925 in Wadi Jezzine , Lebanon , † February 3, 1996 ) was a Lebanese Archbishop of the Maronite Church and Bishop of Sidon .

Life

Ibrahim Hélou was ordained a priest on December 22, 1951 . On 12 July 1975 he received the appointment as bishop of Sidon and received on August 23, 1975 by Archbishop Anthony Peter Khoraish , the Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and All the East , the episcopal ordination . He assisted as co-consecrators Archbishop Elie Farah of Cyprus and Bishop Joseph Merhi CML of Cairo .

In 1985 he was by Pope John Paul II. As Apostolic Administrator of the Maronite Patriarchate of Antioch used. In this capacity he was also President of the Episcopal Conference of Lebanese Patriarchs and Bishops.
