Antoine Torbey

Antoine Torbey (born September 15, 1925 in Bsatine , † August 9, 2004 ) was the Maronite bishop of Latakia .

Life

Antoine Torbey was ordained a priest on March 24, 1951 .

The Pope appointed him Bishop of Latakia on May 2, 1986. He was ordained bishop by the Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and the whole of the Orient , Nasrallah Pierre Cardinal Sfeir , on July 12 of the same year; Co-consecrators were Georges Abi-Saber OLM , Auxiliary Bishop of Antioch , Chucrallah Harb , Bishop of Jounieh , Joseph Mohsen Béchara , Archbishop of Cyprus , Khalil Abi-Nader , Archbishop of Beirut , Ignace Ziadé, retired archbishop of Beirut , Antoine Joubeir , Archbishop of Tripoli del Libano , Elie Farah , Archbishop Emeritus of Cyprus , Joseph Merhi CML , Bishop of Cairo , Ibrahim Hélou , Archbishop ad personam of Sidon , and Roland Aboujaoudé , Auxiliary Bishop in Antioch .

On June 23, 2001, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
