Georges Filipinetti
Georges Filipinetti (born August 13, 1907 in Plainpalais , † May 3, 1973 in Geneva ) was a Swiss entrepreneur. He was the founder of the Scuderia Filipinetti and Ambassador of San Marino to the United Nations in Geneva.
Life
Filipinetti trained as a thermal engineer in his father's large industrial company. He later became the most influential car salesman for Ferrari in Switzerland. To promote Swiss racing, he founded the Scuderia Filipinetti in 1961, which soon after became one of the most prestigious private racing teams in the world. With him, he gave young racing drivers such as the Swiss Jo Siffert , Herbert Müller and Heinz Schiller a chance in automobile racing. The Belgian Willy Mairesse also drove for the Scuderia for a few years.
In 1960, Georges Filipinetti bought Grandson Castle on Lake Neuchâtel . He lived and worked there, and the Scuderia Filipinetti had its headquarters here. He also set up a historical museum in the castle, which has a collection of historical automobiles and weapons.
After a very successful period of the Scuderia Filipinetti, which lasted into the 1970s, Georges Filipinetti died of the consequences of a long-standing diabetes . The Scuderia Filipinetti was then dissolved.
