Georges Kahhalé Zouhaïraty BA (born August 1, 1938 in Aleppo , Syria ) was the Apostolic Exarch for the Melkite Greek Catholic Church in Venezuela from 1995 to 2019 .

Life

On February 2, 1966, Georges Kahhalé Zouhaïraty was ordained a religious priest of the Aleppine Basilians . At the same time he was appointed titular bishop of Abila Lysaniae on October 12, 1995, he was appointed Apostolic Exarch in Venezuela . The Patriarch of Antioch Maximos V Hakim and the co-consecrators Archbishop Elias Nijmé BA from Tripoli ( Lebanon ) and auxiliary bishop in Antioch Archbishop Jean Mansour SMSP initiated him on 21 December 1995 on the bishop . In October 2010, Bishop Georges Kahhalé Zouhaïraty was represented as a delegate at the Special Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the Middle East . He made a statement on the situation of Christians in the Middle East. In it he said that it is an important task of the Christians living in emigration to support the Christians living in their homeland and to strengthen them in the faith.
