George Michael de Vietinghoff
George Michael Baron von Vietinghoff called Scheel also Georg , Vittinghoff , Wieting Hoff or Wittinghoff , ( French Georges Michel de Vittinghoff nommé Schele ; * June 11 . Jul / 22. June 1722 greg. In Beckhof in Frombork , † 21st September 1807 in Versailles ) was a French lieutenant general .
Life
George Michael was a member of a Courland line of the Barons von Vietinghoff . His parents were the Kurland chamberlain and heir to Beckhof and Eichshof, Friedrich Casimir von Vietinghoff called Scheel (1672-1735) and Anna Dorothea Margaretha von Wrangel (1678-1730).
He entered French service and lived in Osthoffen Castle in Alsace . In 1778 he held the rank of Mestre de camp . He became Maréchal de camp on March 1, 1780 and was promoted to Lieutenant-général on May 20, 1792 .
He was a Knight of the Legion of Honor and holder of the Grand Cross of the Ordre royal et militaire de Saint-Louis .
From his marriage to Salome von Wolff called Lüdinghausen five children emerged.
