Georgi Kay

Georgina Kingsley , known as Georgi Kay, is a British - Australian singer-songwriter and actress . Their music is attributed to indie pop . As a singer, she worked on the song In My Mind, among others .

Life

Kay, who grew up in the Western Australian city of Perth , began playing guitar and singing when she was young. In interviews, Kay stated that she identified as homosexual and that she had problems with it in her youth. In 2010, at the age of 17, she received an award from the West Australian Music (WAM) for Song of the Year. Her song Breakfast in Bedlam was awarded . Two more WAM awards followed in the following year.

In 2013 she moved to London and signed a contract with the British record label Parlophone . She took on the role of Melissa in the British series Top of the Lake . She also released her debut EP In My Mind . The single of the same name also appeared on an album by the Swedish House Mafia , after the Swedish house DJ Axwell created a remix of it. This remix was nominated for a Grammy . In 2012, the original mix by Kay, Ivan Gough and Feenixpawl was recognized as the best dance release at the ARIA Awards .

In 2016 she returned to her homeland Australia, where she released the album Origins with her own label Monoki after separating from her previous music label. She moved to Los Angeles later that year . There she began to work on new music by herself. She provided the soundtrack for the 2016 film Sleight . The year before, she was involved in the film music for the series Residue .

Her song In My Mind became another hit in 2018 when Lithuanian music producer Dynoro produced a mashup of her song with Gigi D'Agostino's song L'amour toujours . This new version was also called In My Mind . That year she released the album Where I Go To Disappear . In 2018 she received an honorable mention at the International Songwriting Competition.
