Georgi Mikhailovich Orlov

Georgi Michailowitsch Orlow ( Russian Георгий Михайлович Орлов ; * March 13th July / March 26th  1901 greg. In Kursk , Russian Empire ; † April 16, 1985 in Moscow , Soviet Union ) was a Russian-Soviet architect and university lecturer.

Life

Orlov studied from 1921 to 1926 at the Moscow State Technical University . He was a student of Viktor Wesnin . From 1933 he taught at what is now the Moscow National Research University for Construction . Orlov was secretary of the constructivist architects' association OSA and a member of the editorial board of its newspaper Sovremenaya architektura .

1962 to 1963 he was Vice President of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction . From 1963 to 1981 he was the first secretary of the board of the Union of Architects of the USSR . 1972 to 1975 he was President of the Union Internationale des Architectes . From 1979 he was a full member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR .

Orlow was married to the artist and designer Irina Orlowa-Kupezio .
