Coined times

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Coined times are times in the church year , the liturgy of which is connected (shaped by) with the celebration of one of the two festivals Christmas and Easter or their preparation - Advent and Lent. The marked times thus differ from the time in the annual cycle .

In times characterized by the liturgy, with the exception of the feasts of the saints, the texts and orations of the Holy Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours are based entirely on the festive secrets of the respective time. The liturgical color depends on the character of the time: violet for the two times of penance, Advent and Lent , white in the festive times of Christmas and Easter .
