Gerald Lehner

Gerald Lehner (born March 12, 1968 in Timelkam ; † September 2, 2016 ) was an Austrian football referee .

Lehner was a trained system technician.

From July 1, 1995, Lehner was a referee in the Austrian Bundesliga and from January 1, 2002, FIFA referee.

Among other things, he directed two games at the U-21 European Football Championship in Portugal in 2006 .

On August 11, 2008, the referees of the ÖFB announced that Lehner was no longer eligible as a referee in the Bundesliga , as he had not passed the required fitness test. Lehner already received an exception permit for the 2007/2008 season . Lehner cited diabetes as the reason for his failure .

Gerald Lehner died on September 2, 2016 at the age of only 48.
