Geraldine Sherman

Geraldine Sherman (* 20th October 1944 as Geraldine Judith Schoen man in Staines-upon-Thames , England ) is a British actress .

Life

Sherman grew up as the daughter of German-born Jewish refugees in an orphanage in Shenfield, Essex. Only at the age of 11 did she return to her parents, who she left again at the age of 17 to join a theater group. During her time as a stage actress, she worked with, among others, Ken Loach and Ken Russell , and between the mid-1960s and the early 1970s she appeared in numerous British film productions and television series. Mostly it was about smaller supporting roles or episode roles.

In 1970 she vacationed in New York City , where she met Jamie Hammerstein, the youngest son of Oscar Hammerstein , and later married. Their son Simon was born in 1977. After the death of her husband in 1999, she took over the management of his production company James Hammerstein Productions Ltd. Since then she has been producing on Broadway as Dena Hammerstein .
