Gerard Clifford

Gerard Clifford (born June 24, 1941 in Lordship , County Louth , Ireland , † December 12, 2016 ) was an Irish clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Armagh .

Life

Gerard Clifford was ordained a priest on June 18, 1967 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Titular Bishop of Hieron and Auxiliary Bishop in Armagh on March 25, 1991 . He was ordained episcopal on April 21 of the same year by the Archbishop of Armagh, Cahal Brendan Daly ; Co- consecrators were Francis Joseph MacKiernan , Bishop of Kilmore , and Archbishop Emanuele Gerada , Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland.

On February 27, 2013 Pope Benedict XVI. his early resignation for health reasons.
