from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gerassim Matwejewitsch Eliaschberg ( Russian Герасим Матвеевич Элиашберг ; born July 26, 1930 in Leningrad ) is a Russian theoretical physicist .

Life

Eliaschberg's father Matwei Gerassimowitsch Eliaschberg worked as a chemist in the paper industry. Eliaschberg graduated from the physical faculty of Leningrad University with degree in 1952. He then worked in the Leningrad factory Red chemist .

In 1959 Eliaschberg became a research associate at the Physics-Technical Institute (FTI) of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN-SSSR, since 1991 Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN)). In 1964 he moved to the branch of the Moscow Institute for Chemical Physics of the AN-SSSR in Chernogolovka , founded in 1956 , which then became the Institute for Problems of Chemical Physics of the AN-SSSR.

In 1965 Eliaschberg became the main research assistant at the Landau Institute for Theoretical Physics (ITF) of the AN-SSSR in Chernogolowka, which was founded in 1964 . He became known for his work in the field of statistical physics , solid state physics and superconductivity . He developed a theory of the electron - phonon interaction in superconductors at finite temperatures . The equations for superconductors with strong electron bonds were named after him. In 1970 he predicted the possibility of raising the critical temperature of superconductivity using a high-frequency field . Together with Lew Petrowitsch Gorkow he developed a theory of the kinetics of superconductors in external variable fields according to a generalized unsteady Ginsburg-Landau equation .

Eliaschberg received his doctorate in physical-mathematical sciences in 1972 . He was elected a corresponding member of the AN-SSSR in 1990 and a full member of the RAN in 2000. He is the author or co-author of a large number of publications. His stag index is 31.

Eliaschberg was first married to Jelena Issaakowna Eisenhardt (1930-1958), daughter of the historian Issaak Moissejewitsch Trozki (1903-1937) and adopted daughter and niece of the philologist Iossif Moissejewitsch Tronski (1897-1970). In his second marriage, Eliaschberg is married to Lidija Ivanovna Petrovna, a singing teacher at the Chernogolowka Children's Art School.

Eliaschberg's younger brother is the mathematician Jakow Matwejewitsch Eliaschberg .
