Coach Helmuth Johannsen used the ex-Kieler on the start day of the Bundesliga round 1966/67, August 20, 1966, in the home game against SV Werder Bremen. Saborowski scored the 2-0 for Braunschweig in the 81st minute and the "Löwen" had a surprisingly good round in the next few months. Saborowski made 33 appearances and scored eight goals. With an exceptionally good defense and the offensive around Lothar Ulsaß , Eintracht Braunschweig won the German championship in 1967.

Success in the championship also paid off for Saborowski through three appearances in the DFB's U23 junior national team . He played the international matches in October 1966 against Turkey, in November 1966 against Romania and on May 3, 1967 in Mönchengladbach against Czechoslovakia. In the 3-1 success in the Bökelberg Stadium , he formed the German attack together with Herbert Wimmer , Günter Netzer , Jupp Heynckes and Horst Köppel .

In the 1967/68 round Braunschweig played in the European Cup . In the second leg against SK Rapid Wien on November 29, 1967, Saborowski scored the decisive goal for the 2-0 final score. His third appearance in the European Cup was the play-off on March 20, 1968 in Bern's Wankdorf Stadium against Juventus Turin . The team of coach Heriberto Herrera prevailed with a goal from Sweden's Roger Magnusson , against the Braunschweiger who competed without the injured Lothar Ulsaß and Horst Berg .

In the 1970/71 season, now Otto Knefler was working as a coach in Braunschweig , Saborowski came again to ten missions with two goals. He played his last Bundesliga game on May 1, 1971 in the 2-1 defeat at Hamburger SV. He moved back to Holstein Kiel in the Regionalliga Nord for the 1971/72 round and ended his career in German league football there in 1972. He stayed with the "Storks" until 1973. Then he let his career end with his home club TSV Siems.
