Gerd Taube

Gerd Taube (born February 17, 1962 in Marienberg , Erzgebirge ) is a German theater scholar and university professor. He was best known as the director of the children's and youth theater center in the Federal Republic of Germany. He is an honorary professor at the Institute for Youth Book Research at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and was chairman of the Federal Association for Cultural Education for Children and Young People for many years . He also publishes on the topics of puppet and puppet theater, theater for young audiences, young drama and cultural education.

Life and work

Gerd Taube studied theater studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1984 and initially worked there as a research assistant . In 1989 he became head dramaturge and deputy director at the Municipal Puppet Theater Karl-Marx-Stadt / Chemnitz, where he was involved in the change in theater during the fall of the Berlin Wall, until the Berlin Senator for Culture Ulrich Roloff-Momin brought him to Berlin in 1993 , where he Founding director of the Schaubude Berlin puppet and puppet theater in the historic building of the puppet theater on Greifswalder Strasse . At the request of the Institute for Youth Book Research, Taube was awarded the title of honorary professor by the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main in 2014. Since 1997 he has been a lecturer at the institute.
