Career

Gerd Wiesemes made his debut for the first team of VfL Bochum in the DFB-Pokal 1960/61 when he was used on July 29, 1961 by coach Hermann Lindemann in the round of 16 against FK Pirmasens as a right defender next to Dieter Trawny . After VfL Bochum in the 1961/62 round of 2nd Oberliga West had missed direct promotion as third-placed, Wiesemens and his club had to relegate to the third-class association league Westphalia after the 1962/63 round.

In the first season in the Association League Westphalia , VfL Bochum took second place behind champions Dortmund SC 95 . In the second round, the team led by coach Hubert Schieth won the championship in front of Lüner SV . The third playoff for the Westphalia Championship against SpVgg Erkenschwick ended after extra time with a 1-1 draw and the following coin toss brought VfL Bochum into the Regionalliga West .

Wiesemens lost his regular place in the 1971/72 Bundesliga season to Reinhold Wosab and after nine Bundesliga games, 27 games in the 2nd Oberliga West, 54 association league games and 185 regional league games in which he scored four goals, as well as 14 promotion round games for the 1972/73 season Westfalia Herne . Wiesemes played 61 games and 10 goals for Herne in the West Regional Football League. After he was not used in the 2nd Bundesliga in 1975/76 , Wiesemes let his career at SV Concordia Bochum end.

His greatest sporting success, in addition to reaching the DFB Cup final in 1968, was promotion to the Bundesliga in 1971 .
