Gerd von Lettow-Vorbeck (born April 15, 1902 in Hoffelde , Regenwalde district , Province of Pomerania ; † April 19, 1974 in Ahrensburg , Schleswig-Holstein ) was a German hunter, hunting writer and editor at Paul Parey magazine publisher , which also publishes the magazine Wild and dog issued.

Gerd von Lettow-Vorbeck comes from the old Pomeranian aristocratic family Lettow-Vorbeck . He studied agriculture at the University of Göttingen . In 1923 he became a member of the Corps Saxonia Göttingen . He is the author of the standard work Das Jagdrevier as it should be and between 1960 and 1970 revised numerous standard works of the German-language hunting literature by Ferdinand von Raesfeld , such as Die Hege in der Freie Wildbahn , Das Roe Deer and Das deutsche Waidwerk .

The screenplay of the ZDF documentary drama Momella - A Farm in Africa from 2006 with Christine Neubauer in the leading role was based on his book Am Fuße des Meru , a biography about Margarete Trappe . Gerd von Lettow-Vorbeck visited and interviewed Margarete Trappe on her farm in Momella and wrote the manuscript in Hamburg, which she read on Momella shortly before her death in 1957.
