Gerda Hesse (born July 18, 1918 in Hamburg ; † August 24, 2006 there ) was a member of the federal executive committee of the German salaried workers' union (DAG) today ver.di , from 1971 to 1983 as deputy chairwoman.

Life

Gerda Hesse, daughter of a businessman, was a trained industrial clerk. After performing various activities in industry and in associations, she became a full-time employee of the DAG in 1948 in the field of economic policy and works council. In 1960 Gerda Hesse was elected to the DAG federal executive board for the first time, to which she belonged until 1983, since 1971 as deputy chairwoman. From 1962 to 1986 she was a member of the board of the Federal Insurance Agency for Salaried Employees (BfA), twelve years of which, from 1968 to 1980, as chairwoman of the board. In 1963 Gerda Hesse became a member of the Economic and Social Committee of the European Economic Community (EEC) in Brussels . She represented the DAG in 1967 in the " Concerted Action " founded by the federal government . She was the only woman among 22 men. From June 16, 1975 to October 16, 1987 she was a member of the Social Advisory Council . Delegated by the DAG, she was a member of several supervisory boards (including Dresdner Bank and Siemens). In addition, the SPD appointed her to the program commission at federal level in 1970 (chairman: Helmut Schmidt ), to which she contributed her expertise in economic policy issues and to which she had been a member since 1961.
