Gerdie Keen

Gerdie Keen (born September 29, 1969 in Wageningen ) is a Dutch table tennis player . She was second in the individual at the European Championships in 1994.

National

At the Dutch championships Gerdie Keen won thirteen titles, namely in singles in 1989, 1996, 1997 and 1998, in doubles in 1989 (with Brenda Hunterslag), 1990, 1991, 1992 (with Emily Noor ), 1993, 1996, 1997 (with Mirjam Kloppenburg ) and 1998 (with Melisa Muller) as well as mixed in 1988 with Geert Verhaegh. With the club De Treffers '70 she was in 1994/95 and 1995/96 Dutch team champions.

International

From 1985 to 1999, Keen was nominated eight times for world championships . In 1985 and 1987 she came in fourth with the Dutch women's team. She took part in the European Championships five times , where she had her greatest success in 1994 with second place in the individual. In the final she was defeated by the Swede Marie Svensson . She reached the quarter-finals four times, namely in 1990 and 1992 in singles, in 1992 in mixed with Trinko Keen and in 1998 in doubles with Adriana Simion-Nastase (Romania). In 1996 , Keen qualified to participate in the Summer Olympics . Here she was eliminated in the first round in singles and doubles.

In the ITTF world rankings she was listed in February 1999 at number 56.

Germany

In 1997 Gerdie Keen moved from the De Treffers '70 club to the German Bundesliga for TuS Glane and the following year to Bayer Uerdingen , with whose women's team she reached the ETTU Cup final in 1998/99 .

Private

In 2000 Gerdie Keen ended her active career and then worked for the Dutch Table Tennis Association.

She is the older sister of the table tennis player Trinko Keen and has another sister named Dieke .
