Gerhard "Gerd" Augustin (* 1941 in Hagen ) is a German music producer . He was one of the first disc jockeys in Germany and at times manager and producer of Ike & Tina Turner .

Together with Michael "Mike" Leckebusch , who was in the entertainment department at Radio Bremen at the time, he developed the concept for the Beat Club from mid-1965 , a music program that was produced by Radio Bremen and broadcast until 1972. It was the first music program with English-speaking interpreters on German television that was specially designed for young people. Together with Uschi Nerke , he moderated the first eight episodes of the show.

Before that, Augustin had been able to gain experience as one of the first German DJs in the Bremen "Twen Club" since December 1963.

From 1978 he produced albums and soundtracks for the band Popol Vuh , a German Krautrock formation that existed from 1970 to 2001.

In 1989 he discovered the artist Amr Diab for the European music market. He is now considered one of the most successful singers in the Arab world.
