The FIA European Truck Racing Championship 2015 comprised ten events with four races each spread across Europe. It is the 31st European Truck Racing Championship ever, and the tenth since it was awarded the title “Championship” by the FIA in 2006 (previously the championship only had the status of a “Cup” ).

The European champion from the previous season was able to successfully defend his title: the Hungarian, two-time European champion Norbert Kiss won the championship ahead of the Czech Buggyra driver Adam Lacko and the Hattrick European champion Jochen Hahn (2011, 2012, 2013) from Germany. While the victory of the Hungarian racing driver was already certain before the final at Le Mans , the decision in the fight for second place was not made until the last race of the final.

In the team classification, the Czech team Buggyra Racing in 1969 with Adam Lacko and David Vršecký on Freightliner won ahead of the second-placed, Hungarian-French team OXXO - Lion Truck Racing with two-time European champion Norbert Kiss and his French team-mate Anthony Janiec , both on MAN , as well as the third-placed, German team Reinert Adventure with Jochen Hahn and René Reinert , also both on MAN.

Special features of the 2015 season

  • With the beginning of the 2015 season, the unequal rating of races with and without reversal rule was abolished. Now all races are rated equally.
  • After decades of absence, truck races were held again for the first time as part of the 2015 European Championship on the Hungaroring near the Hungarian capital Budapest .
  • After years of absence, truck races were held at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia, Spain , for the first time as part of the 2015 European Championship .
  • In 2015, the International ADAC Truck Grand Prix took place on the Nürburgring for the 30th time. The anniversary was celebrated with races in the European Championship and the ADAC Mittelrhein Cup.
  • Since MAN and Renault withdrew at the beginning of the 2015 season, the European Truck Racing Championship has taken place without any direct support from the works.

Rating

There were four races on each race weekend. At the 2nd daily race (i.e. races 2 and 4 per race weekend), the reversal rule partially reverses the starting grid for the previous race; this concerns the top 8 at the finish line. The winner of the first or third race of a weekend will start from position 8 in the following race, but the 8th of the first or third race will start from pole position . The spaces in between are reversed accordingly. Since the 2015 season, all races have been rated equally: The rating is based on the following scheme (1st to 10th place): 20, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1 point (s).

Up until the previous season, races 2 and 4 of each weekend were still rated as follows: In the races with the reverse start order, points 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 awarded. This ceased to exist at the start of the 2015 season. This means that even drivers who are not among the top drivers have the chance to win points in the 2nd or 4th race with reverse rule. In addition, the points won can be higher.
