The FIA European Truck Racing Championship 2008 (also: FIA European Truck Racing Championship 2008 or FIA ETRC 2008 ) was a Europe of the FIA discharged motorsport racing championship in the group F ( racing trucks ). The nine (9) runs comprehensive, each with four (4) races Truck Racing Championship was the 24th ever and the fourth (third) since they 2006 by the FIA, the predicate of a championship ( "Championship" was awarded). Before that it only had the status of a "Cup" .

The Czech racer David Vršecký won the championship on his Freightliner -Renntruck before his Swiss teammate Markus Bösiger (Freightliner also) and Antonio Albacete from Spain to MAN . Jochen Hahn from Germany (also MAN) finished in 4th place.

Together with Makus Bösiger , David Vršecký also won the team classification as Team Buggyra Int. Racing system on Freightliner racing trucks (878 points). Jochen Hahn and Jean-Philippe Belloc secured second place as a Koller and Schwemmer team with their MAN racing trucks (644 points). With 459 points, Markus Altenstrasser and Frankie Vojtíšek took third place on the podium as the Frankie Truck Racing Team in Renault Trucks . Fourth place went to the Bermejo / Horne team with a total of 244 points on Mercedes-Benz racing trucks.

Rating

Four (4) races were run on each race weekend, two (2) on Saturday and two (2) on Sunday.

In the second (2nd) day race (i.e. races 2 and 4 per race weekend), the starting grid of the previous race was partially reversed due to the reverse rule; this concerns the top 8 at the finish line.

  • The winner of races 1 and 3 of a weekend (first race of the day) started the next race (2 and 4) from position 8.
  • The eighth place (8th) in races 1 and 3 of a weekend (second race of the day) started the following race (2 and 4) from pole position .
  • The places in between have been reversed accordingly.

In the evaluation, a distinction was made between the races with and without reversal rule (places 1 - 10):

  • Races 1 and 3 (without reversal rule): 20, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1 point (s)
  • Races 2 and 4 (with reversal rule): 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 point (s)
