Gerhard Darsow

Gerhard Darsow († 1386 in Lübeck ) was a Lübeck merchant, councilor and co-founder of the circle society .

Darsow was the son of a Lübeck citizen of the same name. In 1376 he was elected to the city council after he had lodged Emperor Charles IV in his house at Königstrasse 41, which he had acquired in 1368, the previous year . He represented Lübeck as councilor in 1384 at the Hanseatic League in Stralsund . After his death, his two brothers Hermann and Johann became councilors.

Gerhard Darsow belonged to a consortium of six Lübeck citizens in 1374, which the Archbishop of Cologne Friedrich III. of Saarwerden loan 5000 Gulden; the repayment was made in part by the Cologne Jew Isaak von Montjoie . Gerhard and his brother Hermann acquired half of the village of Krummesse and half of Niemark and a share in Beidendorfer See for 800 marks in 1382 . In the same year he acquired two farms in Krummesse, as well as half of the village of Grinau with the associated forests for 2,400 marks. In 1384 he acquired the Kannenbruch and the Ellerbrook at Krummesse with additional property for 150 marks. As early as 1379, together with the councilor and later mayor Gottfried Travelmann, he had acquired the pound duty that was levied in Reval .

He was married twice. The first time with Gertrud Vinke, for the second time from 1374 with Herdrade Mornewech, the widow of Gerhard von Alen.
