Gerhard Eckle (born November 23, 1935 in Leutkirch im Allgäu ) is a German pianist , school musician and astrologer .

Gerhard Eckle comes from a family of musical teachers. A letter of recommendation from Robert-Alexander Bohnke , with whom Gerhard Eckle took piano lessons privately, enabled him to study at the Stuttgart University of Music through a grant from the Hölderlin-Bosch Foundation in Stuttgart . This was followed by studies with the Pfitzner student Gerhard Frommel , Jürgen Uhde and the Russian pianist Valentin Rybing at the Badische Hochschule für Musik . On the initiative of Hans Müller-Kray , he recorded several piano pieces by Mussorgsky and Rossini-Liszt for the Süddeutscher Rundfunk in the 1960s .

Gerhard Eckle became internationally known as a pianist through his interpretation of the pictures at an exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky .

From 1964 until his retirement in 2000, Gerhard Eckle worked at the Martin-Gerbert-Gymnasium as senior teacher for music and geography. Due to dystonia , the mobility of his right hand has been severely restricted since 1997.

In 1999 he published a book on astrology.

The Australian composer Phillip Wilcher dedicated several pieces for piano solo to him.
