Gerhard Ganter

Hans Gerhard Ganter (born October 18, 1945 in Oberhausen (Rheinhausen) ) is a German lawyer . He was presiding judge at the Federal Court of Justice until October 31, 2010 .

Career

1972 Ganter was with the investigation "The case law of the European Commission of Human Rights in the field of the penal system" from the University of Freiburg Dr. iur. PhD.

After studying law and completing a legal clerkship , Ganter entered the higher justice service in the state of Baden-Württemberg in 1974 . There he initially worked as a probationary judge at the Freiburg Regional Court and then at the Offenburg public prosecutor's office. From 1975 to 1978 he was seconded to the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Justice , where he worked as a press officer and personal assistant to the Minister of Justice. He then worked as a judge at the Freiburg Regional Court. In 1983 Ganter was appointed judge at the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court after having been seconded there a year earlier. Ganter belonged to the 4th civil senate in Freiburg. After another secondment to the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Justice from 1988, Ganter worked as a judge at the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court . In July 1991 he was appointed judge at the Federal Court of Justice. Here he was appointed to IX, who was responsible for insolvency law . Assigned to civil senate. In 2004 he became deputy chairman of this senate.

In April 2008, Ganter was appointed presiding judge at the Federal Court of Justice. At the same time he was chairman of the IX. Civil Senate and the Senate for Patent Attorney Matters as well as Deputy Chairman of the Senate for Legal Matters . When he reached the age limit at the end of October 2010, he retired.

Ganter is married and has two children.
