The Senate for Legal Matters of the Federal Court of Justice of the Federal Republic of Germany is the highest instance of legal jurisdiction. Unlike the legal courts and legal courts , it is not an independent court, but a ruling body of the Federal Court of Justice.

The legal basis is §§ 106–112 Federal Lawyers' Act (BRAO).

The Senate for legal matters at the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) is presided over by the President of the BGH or a representative qua office ( Section 106 (2 ) BRAO ). In addition to the President of the BGH, two members of the BGH and two lawyers are members of the Senate.

The lawyers ' senate of the BGH is the revision instance of the legal courts in legal proceedings (§ 145 BRAO). In administrative law matters, he decides on appeals against judgments of the law courts and on complaints according to § 17a Abs. 4 Satz 4 GVG ( § 112a Abs. 2 Nr. 1 BRAO ). In the first and last instance, it decides on administrative law matters that affect decisions by the Federal Ministry of Justice or the Bar Association at the Federal Court of Justice and, in certain cases, concern the Federal Bar Association ( Section 112a (2) No. 2 BRAO ).
