Gerhard Gleich (born October 23, 1941 in Prague ) is an Austrian artist and was an associate professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna until 2007 .

Life

He grew up as Gerhard Feest, son of Hertha Feest and Walter Feest, in Braunau , Marienhof and Vienna. After attending the St. Rupert Missionary High School in Bischofshofen , he passed the Matura at the Stubenbastei High School in Vienna and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts with Albert Paris Gütersloh . From 1972 to 1997 he was assistant in Wolfgang Hollegha's master class there . Until 2007 he worked as an associate professor in the conceptual art department . Since his marriage in 2000 to the Polish-Austrian painter Joanna Gleich , he has adopted her family name. After early exhibitions in Vienna and Paris, he largely withdrew from the commercial art market. Most of his paintings, half-reliefs, polyester and wood objects are known only to a few collectors and friends. He has since made a name for himself as a restorer of contemporary art. He has proven his theatrical broadcast in a series of experimental short films (including Stephanie Winter “Der Doppelganger”, 2009) and performances (Parapraxis). He has three children (Gaspard, Jalle, Ania) and is the brother of Christian Feest and Johannes Feest .
