Gerhard Hildmann (born July 24, 1907 in Markt Herrnsheim ; † August 1, 1992 in Tutzing ) was a German Protestant theologian.

Life

After graduating from St. Anna-Gymnasium in Augsburg , Gerhard Hildmann studied theology and philosophy in Leipzig, Tübingen, Berlin and Erlangen. In Tübingen he was involved in the youth-active university guild Rüdiger von Bechelaren. From 1930 he was pastorally active in pastoral positions in Kempten and Buxach . In the church struggle within the Evangelical Church, he was active on the side of the Confessing Church , in particular he was inclined to the Dahlemites around Martin Niemöller . His dean characterized him as follows as a result of his main visit in 1936:

“He belongs to the radical wing of the Confessing Church and the parish fraternity. The action of the Reich Brotherhood Council under the leadership of Pastor Niemöller in Dahlem [sic!] Appeals to him far more than the attitude of the Luther [is] council and the Bavarian regional church council. In the pulpit he takes a position on all public questions from the ground of the Gospel in a very open manner. "

From 1934 to 1936 and again from 1946 he was managing director of the Evangelical Press Association for Bavaria. From 1947 to 1950 he was chairman of the Evangelical Press Association and from 1949 to 1968 director of the Evangelical Academy in Tutzing . During this time he wrote a large number of small sacred scriptures.

From 1949 to 1972 Hildmann was a member of the Broadcasting Council, from 1972 a member of the administrative board of Bayerischer Rundfunk and from 1956 to 1966 a member of the ARD program advisory board .

From September 15, 1967 to December 31, 1977 he was a member of the Bavarian Senate .
