Gerhard II (Eppstein)

Gerhard II von Eppstein (later: Gerhard von Braubach) (* 12th or 13th century; † 1249 ) was a nobleman of the older line of the House of Eppstein . The Eppsteiners, who succeeded in establishing one of the most important aristocratic rule in Hesse in the late Middle Ages and who were wealthy in Spessart , Taunus and Wetterau as early as 1200 , were noble lords and in the 13th century had four archbishops and electors from Mainz .

Life

Gerhard II was the son of Gottfried I von Eppstein and his wife Isalda von Wied . It is first mentioned in 1223.
