Gerhard Karner (born August 27, 1990 in Oberpullendorf ) is an Austrian football player .

Career

Via the academy to Parndorf

Karner started his career at UFC Donnerskirchen . In 2004 he came to AKA Burgenland , where he played until 2008. For the 2008/09 season he moved to the fourth class UFC Purbach . That season he finished seventh with Purbach in the Landesliga Burgenland .

For the 2009/10 season he moved to the fourth-class second team of SC-ESV Parndorf 1919 .

First steps in the regional league and promotion

In October 2011 he was against the amateurs of FC Admira Wacker Mödling for the first time in the squad of Parndorf's first team. In May 2012 he finally made his debut in the regional league when he came on as a substitute for Filip Juroszek on the 26th match day of the 2011/12 season against SV Horn in the 73rd minute . In the 88th minute, however, he had to leave the field after two yellow cards. By the end of the season he made three appearances in the regional league; At the end of the season, Parndorf was fourth in the Regional League East.

In August 2012 he was against SV Oberwart for the first time in the starting line-up of Parndorf. In the same month he scored his first goal in the third division in a 3-2 win against the amateurs of SV Mattersburg . In the 2012/13 season he played a total of 23 games in the regional league and scored three goals. In May 2014 he scored his first goal in the second division in a 4-1 defeat against SCR Altach . By the end of the season he had played 24 second division games in which he scored a goal. At the end of the season he finished ninth and penultimate place in the table with Parndorf, which meant that you had to play in relegation for relegation. In this one failed, however, against the champion of the Regionalliga Mitte, LASK , after a defeat and a draw and thus had to relegate to the Regionalliga. As in the previous season, Karner was used in both relegation games.

After relegation, he played 26 games in the Regionalliga by the end of the 2014/15 season, scoring nine goals. With Parndorf he finished the season as runner-up behind SC Ritzing . Since the Ritzingers had been denied the license for the second highest division, he was allowed to participate with Parndorf in the relegation for promotion. In this, however, as in the previous season, the champions of the Regionalliga Mitte, SK Austria Klagenfurt , failed after a win and a defeat with a total score of 5: 3. After being substituted on, Karner scored the winning goal in stoppage time to make it 2-1. In the 4-1 defeat in the second leg, he was substituted on at half-time. After losing relegation, he took part with the Burgenlanders in the 2015/16 season in the Regionalliga, in which he played 27 games and scored seven goals. However, they had nothing to do with the promotion this season, they ended the season 27 points behind the champions SV Horn in seventh place.

Cruciate ligament rupture and comeback

In the 2016/17 season he placed Parndorf in ninth place in the table, Karner completed eight regional league games in that season and remained without scoring. However, Karner was out almost the entire season: After he had already missed the start of the season due to a hand injury that he suffered in the ÖFB Cup against LASK, he tore his cruciate ligament in the eleventh round against FCM Traiskirchen in October 2016 . After making his comeback in the Regionalliga in September 2017, he tore two ligaments in a game against the Wiener Sport-Club in October 2017 after a blow to the ankle and had to pause until the winter break. In the 2017/18 season, however, he was used in 22 of 31 season games and scored four goals. With Parndorf he finished that season in 13th place in the table.
