Gerhard Kreyssig

Gerhard Kreyssig (born December 25, 1899 in Crossen , † October 14, 1982 in Munich ) was a German SPD politician .

Life and work

After completing school at the Realgymnasium in Plauen , which had been interrupted by participating in the First World War, Kreyssig studied economics and political science in Greifswald and Leipzig . He completed an apprenticeship at Deutsche Bank until 1924 . In Leipzig he was in 1925 with the work The solidarism as a sociological principle in the formulation by Heinrich Pesch Doctor of Political Sciences PhD . After initially working at Bayerische Hypotheken- und Wechselbank in Munich, he worked as a secretary in the economic policy department of the main office of the General Free Employees' Association in Berlin from 1928 . From 1931 to 1945 he was head of the economics department of the International Trade Union Confederation , first in Berlin, then in Paris and London , where the ITUC headquarters to the takeover of the National Socialists had avoided. Due to emigration, he and his family were expatriated in 1938.

After the Second World War , Kreyssig returned to Germany and became a business editor at the Süddeutsche Zeitung . He had been a member of the IG Druck und Papier since 1945 . From 1948 to 1952 he was on the supervisory board of the state registration office for public property, and from 1953 to 1968 he was an employee representative on the supervisory boards of Siemens & Halske AG and Siemens-Schuckertwerke AG.

Kreyssig was married to Erich Ollenhauer's daughter and had one daughter.

Political party

Since 1922 Kreyssig belonged to the SPD and later also to the Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold . From 1947 to 1967 he was a member of the Economic Policy Committee of the SPD party executive.

MP

Kreyssig was a member of the Economic Council of the Bizone from 1947 to 1949 . He had been a member of the Bundestag since April 4, 1951, when he replaced Waldemar von Knoeringen and remained that member of the Bundestag until 1965 as a member of the Bavarian SPD's state list .

From July 16, 1952 to December 21, 1965, Kreyssig was also a member of the European Parliament , of which he had been Vice President since March 1964.
