Gerhard Melinz

Gerhard Melinz (* 1955 in Frohnleiten , Styria ) is an Austrian social and economic historian and political scientist .

Melinz studied social history and political science at the University of Vienna. He received his doctorate in social and economic history and also completed his habilitation in these subjects. After positions at the University of Linz and the University of Vienna , he is currently a university lecturer at the FH Campus Wien in the Department of Social Affairs, including in the European master’s program SOWOSEC . He is considered one of Austria's most renowned researchers on the past and present of social work.
