Gerhard Mildenberger

Gerhard Mildenberger (born April 26, 1915 in Naumburg (Saale) , † February 11, 1992 in Bochum ) was a German prehistorian .

From 1934 to 1939 he studied medieval history, geography and ethnology at the universities of Göttingen, Königsberg and Halle. In 1940 he received his doctorate in ethnology at the University of Halle with his thesis The fire graves of the late Roman period in southern Central Germany . In 1951 he was at the University of Leipzig with the work The great burial mounds of the Central German Neolithic. A contribution to the chronology and cultural history of the Neolithic . From 1952 to 1954 he had a teaching position for prehistory and early history at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig, from 1954 to 1959 he was professor there with a teaching position for pre and early history. From 1960 to 1965 he was Professor of Prehistory and Protohistory at the Philipps University of Marburg , and from 1965 to 1980 Professor of Prehistory and Protohistory at the Ruhr University in Bochum .
